Port Blair, Oct 15: The Tribal Development Council is launching a unique Sport, Art & Cultural Development Programme for the tribal communities of Andaman & Nicobar Island. The Council will initiate the Programme with a two-day Pilot Project at Port Blair on 16th and 17thOctober, 2018.
A 3-KM Run for boys and girls will mark the launch of the programme on Wednesday, October 17 at 1600 hrs(4.00 pm) a flag off by The Secretary(Sports/Edn).
Mr. D.Manikandan,IAS will be the Chief Guest. The run will start and culminate at Netaji Stadium to Cellular jail. The Tribal Development Council is extremely happy to announce the cooperation and encouragement it has received from New Delhi YMCA.
This Pilot Project will lay the foundation of bigger cooperation between Tribal Development Council and New Delhi YMCA. In coming years, talented young athletes from Andaman and Nicobar Islands will be picked up and sent for further grooming to New Delhi with assistance from New Delhi YMCA. Similarly, for talented youngsters in performing art and cultural areas, Mr Vijay Milton from New Delhi YMCA could be a big asset. Mr Milton is a well-known singer, composer and filmmaker. He has already agreed in principal to conduct workshops in music and film making for youngsters of our region.
