Valedictory function on ‘Dhanwatari Jayanti’ /‘3rd National Ayurveda Day’

Port Blair, Nov 05: The valedictory function of fortnight-long celebrations of ‘3rdNational Ayurveda Day (NAD)’ / was held at TGCE Auditorium on5th November, 2018 i.e. on ‘Dhanwatari Jayanti’. The Director of Health Services, Dr. S.P. Burma, was the chief guest on the occasion. At the outset, Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, D.D. (AYUSH) welcomed the gathering. In his key note address, DD (AYUSH) stated the significance of the day and presented glimpses of the various activities carried out by AYUSH across the islands in ppt. form.

Miss. Ashwini and Miss. M. Kavya mesmerized the gathering with a classical dance.

In his address, the DHS commended the efforts of AYUSH for various activities in the benefit of public. He emphasized the role of Ayurveda in preventive, promotive and curative health care and appealed the people to adopt the principles of Ayurveda in day to day life.

Dr. Rekha, Specialist (Panchkarma) and Nodal Officer (NAD),through her ppt presentation on ‘Ayurveda for Public Health’, sensitized the gathering about Dincharaya (Daily Lifestyle), Aahar Vidhi (Healthy Dietary Habits), Achar Rasayana (Good personal & social conduct), and common home remedies of Ayurveda.

The winners of essay and drawing competitions organized for school and college students of Port Blair were awarded with cash prizes and certificates. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Dr.A.Sudarshan, M/O (Ayur).
