Port Blair, Dec 27: Mr. Sanjay Meshack requested Prime Minister of India to relook on the proposal for renaming some Islands.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister of India he wrote “we don’t want name change of our Islands, we the Islanders want employment & basic developments of our Andaman & Nicobar Islands”.
He pointed that these Islands are synonymous to tourism since the last few decades. The changing of name of these Islands, after having created a strong brand will cause immense loss to tourism and to the local youth involved in tourism business.
