Port Blair, Apr 28: An event on “Digital Empowerment of women and the power of Internet” was organised at Chouldari Panchayat by the apex business body YCCI (Youth Chamber of Commerce and Industries) on 27th April.
Mr. Mohan Halder (Pradhan Chouldari) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Mr. Ghadedhar Majumdar was the guest of honour.
Proud women members of Ycci Mrs. Namrata Sant Puria, Mrs. Prateeksha Malothra and Mrs. Amreen Asmal Jadwet conducted the workshop successfully in presence of August audience of 150 household women of Chouldari Panchyat.
Addressing the gathering, the President of Ycci Mr. Tanveer Singh said that this event had been long pending and YCCI will be doing it across all villages of South Andaman.
“The idea of enlightening the islanders with uses of high speed internet, so that they can upgrade their life skills and make use of e-commerce , e learning and understand the essence of being connected in real time with the world is what we have tried to achieve in this workshop. We want all sections of the society to be competent enough with rapid transformation into the Digital world,” he said.
“In this event overwhelming response was shown by the audience as they had never experienced a workshop on this subject before, to further facilitate the participants on the learning of the workshop free smart phones were also distributed,” said Mr. Shashank Puria (General Secretary, YCCI).
Ycci’s initiative of going into interior parts of the Islands and doing such programs is appreciated, as this youth body is trying to create a difference in the society.
