Port Blair, Jan 18: Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) coordinated the Voluntary Blood Donation camp which was organized by Office of the Dy. Supdt. of Police (Armed Police), Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 18/1/2021 at Recreation Hall of Police Training School, Prothrapur, Port Blair. A total of 90 Police personnel from various units of A & N Police voluntarily donated blood and participated for this noble cause.
Mr. S. K. Tewari, IPS, Superintendent of Police (AP/SAP) & Principal Police Training School, Prothrapur jointly inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp.
The camp was organized under the leadership of Dr M. Joy, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society and Director, State Blood Transfusion Council, A & N Islands. He exhorted all voluntary blood donors to donate blood fearlessly in the forthcoming camps with all Covid 19 protocols.
The Blood Donation was facilitated by the Dr. Shahina Mustaquim, Grade – II, Microbiologist, C.H.S, G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair. The donors were examined for their eligibility to donate blood and briefed the donors on various aspect and importance of blood donation. Voluntary Blood donation is the best way to celebrate any occasion. Blood has no replacement and is the best gift to mankind.
Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, DANIPS, Vice Principal (outdoor); Mr. Michael Raj, DANIPS, Vice Principal (indoor); Inspector Jyothi Chatwal of Police Line and Inspector Ranga Raj, Chief Drill Instructor of Police Training School extended their full cooperation for the successful conduct of the camp.
The technical team from Blood Bank, G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair and A & N AIDS Control Society ensured that the donated blood units are screened for the blood transmissible diseases. They also examined the donors for eligibility. Donors certificate were also distributed to the voluntary donors.
