36th National Under -09 Chess Championship 2023 concludes

Port Blair, Nov 08: The 36th National U-09 (Boys and Girls) Chess Championships 2023 which began on 2nd November 2023 concluded successfully today at Wave International, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. 

Around 360 players from all over India took part with great enthusiasm. Three young chess players from A & N Islands namely Shrihaan Karmakar of KV 2, Pranjal Sana and G Disha Meenakshi of KV 1 participated in the championship and performed quite well.

Shrihaan Karmakar, a class IV student of KV 2, is the top scorer among the Andaman players. He played exceptionally well and scored 6.5 points from 11 rounds with six wins and a draw, including two wins and a draw against three higher rated opponents from Gujarat, Karnataka and West Bengal.  Similarly, Pranjal Sana and Disha Meemakshi from KV 1 played well. Pranjal scored 4.5 points with three wins and three draws, including two draws and one win against rated players from Telangana, Delhi and Uttarakhand, while Disha Meemakshi, playing her first Nationals, scored 3 points with three wins against players from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Jharkhand
