Port Blair, Sept 28: Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has written a letter to the Lt. Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Secretary, Agriculture, A & N Administration and the Director, Agriculture, A & N Administration requesting them to immediately distribute & supply Fertilisers & Pesticides to the famers of the Islands.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi in his letter addressed to the authorities has mentioned that the farmers of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have suffered heavy losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent heavy rainfall in the past months.
He informed the authorities that the farming season is about to end and he has come to know that the fertilisers and pesticides have reached Port Blair now. The fertilisers and pesticides are basic necessities of the farmers for a good yield.
He further informed that several farmers both in North & Middle Andaman and South Andaman District have been waiting for fertilisers and pesticides since a long time. Mr. Ajoy Bairagi further requested that now since the required fertilisers and pesticides have reached Port Blair appropriate directions may be issued to the authorities to immediately transport them to various regions and supply them to the farmers.
