Congress Leaders Visit Car Nicobar, hold series of Meeting and review progress of Development Works

Port Blair, June 25: The ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder, ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker and Chairman, Adivasi Congress Mr. Sebastian TirkeyreachedCar Nicobaron a three-day visit from 19th June to 22nd June, 2023.

On their arrival at IAF Station, Car Nicobar, the Congress leaders were accorded warm welcome by the First Captain of Tapomin Village Mr. Lawrence and Deputy Vice Chairman, Tribal Council Mr. John Levi.

Soon after arrival, the Congress leaders proceeded to meet HMAC Member Mr. Wilson Amose where discussions were held on the overall welfare of the tribal community, actively promoting sports and several other matters.

On the second day morning,Congress leadersheld a meeting with Tribal Councilrepresentatives in the presence of Chairman, Tribal Council Mr. Lionald Nicomed. They exchanged their views with the tribal council leaders and heard their grievances patiently to evolve means to protect their interests. They also reviewedthe current progressand issuesof Car Nicobar.

In the afternoon, the Congress leaders had lunch with the members of EHL. Later, Mr. Bhasker presented Mementos to the tribal leaders as a token of love and respect.

Thereafter, the Congress leaders visited Mus Church and laid a wreath on the grave of Late Bishop John Richardson. They then visited Mus Jetty toreviewthe current status of ship berthing and inspect the condition of the passenger waiting shed, site of sea wall construction and dredging area.

In the evening, Congress leaders along with Tribal Council members paid homage to the departed souls at Tsunami Memorial.

On the third day, Mr. TSG Bhasker held a meeting with the Education Officer of Car Nicobar Island Mr. H. Nathanial and discussed problems being faced by teachers and students of the Island.

The Congress leaders emphasized the importance of preserving the tribal culture and praised their proximity towards nature.

On completion of their visit, the Congress leaders returned to Port Blair on 22nd June, 2023. The visit of the Top Congress leader has boosted the morale of Congress workers and Tribal Council leaders of Car Nicobar Island.
