Animal Science division of ICAR-CIARI organizes Training cum Demonstration on Scientific Goat Farming for Enhancing Productivity and Income Generation

Port Blair, Jul 08: Division of Animal Science, ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair conducted a training cum demonstration on “Scientific Goat Farming” from 6th to 8th July 2022 at Ranchi Basti, Maymyo village for Enhancing Productivity and Income Generation. A total of 30 farmers, including 27 women farmers, attended the programme.
During the training programme, farmers were given knowledge on scientific goat farming, treatment and control of diseases with particular reference to control of parasitic infestation, breeding management and multiplier flock concept, management of kids and pregnant does, feed and fodder requirements, and hands-on training on usage of FAMACHA chart for detection of anemia and control of the parasitic infestation.
The exposure visit was also organized to Animal Science Farm Complex, wherein they visited the dairy farm, poultry farm, hatchery unit, fodder germplasm block, and chaff cutter unit. Demonstration of goat insemination was also shown and explained to the farmers. Farmers expressed their gratitude to the ICAR-CIARI for conducting the program and also urged to arrange more programs in the future.
A team of scientists vizDr. Jai Sunder, Dr. T. Sujatha, Dr. P. Perumal, Dr. D. Bhattacharya, Dr. A.K.De, Dr. P.A. Bala, Dr. R.R. Alyethodi and Dr. K. Muniswam coordinated the entire programme.
