ANTCC organizes Mass Two-Day Relay Hunger Strike at Tiranga Park to press various local issues

Port Blair, Sep 04: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee under the leadership of its President Mr. Rangalal Halder and Chairman, Campaign Committee Mr. TSG Bhasker took a significant step by spearheading a Two-Days Relay Hunger Strike at Tiranga Park on the 01st and 2nd of August, 2023, centering their efforts to address the pertinent issues surrounding Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The Congress leaders and workers participated in this hunger strike with an unwavering commitment to put light on the issues plaguing the region and press their demands to resolve the issues faced by Islanders.

The Congress leaders highlighted several burning issues including unprecedented power cuts, 100% job reservation for Islanders, poor condition of NH-4 road, shortage of principal, vice-principal and teaching staff in schools, poor condition of GB Pant Hospital, and irregular supply of drinking water, stop Privatization of Govt. Departments and also the overall welfare of the local inhabitants.

By orchestrating this hunger strike, the Congress party effectively underscored their dedication to advocate for comprehensive improvements in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, demonstrating a proactive approach to tackling these pressing concerns.

Member of Parliament Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma also took part in this protest for some time despite his busy schedule.

A medical team also visited the protesting site to monitor the health conditions of Congress leaders. They checked the blood pressure, sugar levels and took blood samples of the protesters.

Several other people comprising the Senior Leaders of the Congress Party, Mahila leaders, and leaders of Frontal Organization’s, ANTCC Department & Cells, PRI Members and PBMC Councilors graced the protest.

Finally, the Relay Hunger Strike culminated at Tiranga Park with a Public Meeting and Vote of thanks by Mr. Rangalal Halder on 02nd of September at 7:00 PM.
