Port Blair, Apr 29: The District Child Protection Unit under District Administration, South Andaman conducted an awareness programme on the “POCSO Act and Child Protection” in collaboration with Police Station, Shaheed Sweep at Govt. Sr. Sec. School Shaheed Dweep on 29th April 2022.
The District Child Protection Officer, South Andaman briefed the children about the role of the District Child Protection Unit in Child Protection and highlighted various structures and details of Institutions working for Child Protection.
SHO, Shaheed Dweep and his team informed the participants about various provisions contained in the POCSO Act and the children were given awareness on Good Touch and Bad Touch.
Thereafter, prizes were distributed to the winners and participants of the Drawing/Painting Competition on the topic “Child Protection/Mere Sapno Ka Shaheed Dweep”organized for children of different age groups.
The District Child Protection Unit, South Andaman team also conducted an awareness programme on “Legal Adoption” for the Health Staff and Anganwadi Workers at PHC Shaheed Dweep in the presence of the Medical Officer In charge.
The District Administration has always ensured its presence for the safety and protection of children in the whole of South Andaman through various means and programmes.
