Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman inspects control rooms and takes stock of the management

Port Blair, May 16: District Administration is reaching out to general public in the surge of COVID-19 second wave in all possible ways. Along with wide consultation with general public and their representatives, Control Rooms have been strengthened at District Office. Also, COVID Care Centres are monitored on regular basis by the Deputy Commissioner (SA) and team.

In this regard, 4 District Level Control Rooms are working 24 x 7 in the District Office for resolving grievances of public related to COVID and various other issues arising out of the present situation.

A Control Room is functioning in the District Conference from where Doctors are monitoring the health conditions of ILI/SARI/suspect cases through telephonic surveillance. Quarantine and all other mechanisms are put in place for managing Covid -19.

A dedicated control room at Zilla Parishad Conference Hall is rigorously monitoring the field surveillance activities being carried out by field staffs covering about 2.5 lakh population. Around 1300 staff are deputed for field surveillance activities all over the District.

Another Control Room is also functioning at State Library which is monitoring the Home Quarantined persons and looks after the medicine distribution to the primary contacts of positive cases, ILI/SARI/suspected cases all over the District.

Further the District Administration is also undertaking distribution of free ration kits to the needy sections of people throughout the District especially focusing on the daily earners in the Containment zones.

Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) inspected the above said control rooms and took stock of the management of the cells and also interacted with the staffs who are working with dedication round the clock to provide service to the public at large.

Later DC along with SDM(SA), AC (U/T) and AC(S) made a visit to the Institutional quarantine facilities at DBRAIT and ITI Dollygunj. During the interaction with Doctor in charge, the DC(SA) enquired about the conditions of the patients present and management of Hygiene, Sanitation, Food and medical facilities available. He appreciated the efforts of the teams at both the Institutional Quarantine Centres in providing all the possible care and service to the patients.

DC(SA) reiterated that COVID-19 management is the foremost focus of the Administration and the entire administrative unit is working on war-footing to bring the pandemic situation back to normalcy. In this regard, DC appealed to the general public to cooperate and support the Administration in fighting this pandemic.
