ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair to celebrate its 45th Institute Foundation Day on June 23

Port Blair, Jun 21: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair will be celebrating its 45th Institute Foundation Day on 23rd June 2022 at the Garacharma Research complex. CIARI is a multi-disciplinary agricultural research institute addressing issues of Island agriculture.

            The institute was established on 23rd June 1978 with the mandate to carry forward the Research and Development activities in Horticulture, Field crops, plant health management, Fisheries, Animal husbandry, Natural Resource Management, social sciences and to undertake dissemination of appropriate technologies to the stakeholders through KVKs, line departments for the increase in production, productivity and improvement in livelihood. During its four decades of existence, Institute has contributed significantly to reducing the gap between demand and supply through technological intervention and entrepreneurs’ development.

            Mr. P. Subramanyam, IFS & Principal Chief Conservator & Forest has consented to be the Chief Guest, Dr. T.V.R. S. Sharma, Former G.B Member, ICAR and Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director, Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Service, A&N Administration will be Guest of Honours and preceded by Dr. E. B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI.

            Dr.Anjani Kumar Srivastava, Former Head, Division of Biochemistry, IVRI, Izatnagar will be delivering a Foundation Day lecture on “Inner Science”. It is also proposed to honour the best farmer who has successfully adopted the technology, further the cause of Agriculture and Allied Sector to uplift their social status. The programme is scheduled from 10.30 AM to 1:30 PM at Garachrma research complex, which will be attended by all the staff members.
