Port Blair, Sep 11: ICDS Diglipur (Rural) Project has been Celebrating 6th RASHTRIYA POSHAN MAAH 2023 since 1st September on the theme Suposhit Bharat Sakshar Bharat, Sashakt Bharat emphasizing on importance of Nutrition, Education and Empowerment in building a healthier and stronger country. On the 9th day of Poshan Maah ICDS Diglipur observes plantation Drive across 119 AWCs while focusing on medicinal plants. During the plantation drive various medicinal plants like lemon grass, long pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and citrus fruit saplings were obtained from the nursery of the forest department. The CDP0, Diglipur Mrs. Indira Devi accompanied by Mukhya Sevikas and Gram Sevika commenced the plantation drive at Anganwadi Centre, D.B. Gram 7 F by planting saplings of orange and cinnamon, etc. The children, community mothers and PRI members participated enthusiastically. The plantation drive will have a greater impact onmotivating people to plant more trees to safeguard ecosystems the Nation and the World in the long run and also to imbibe an idea of the significant role of planting vegetables, fruits and medicinal plants in improving nutritional status of children, pregnant and nursing mothers. This plantation drive was carried out with an idea that it’s imperative conserve trees so that the lives aren’t adverselyaffected- Don’t make trees rare, keep with care.”
