Member of Parliament demands construction of 15,00,000 Ltrs storage capacity overhead water tank at Dairy Farm

Port Blair, May 12: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today requested the Chief Secret of Andaman and Nicobar Administration to construct an overhead water tank (15,00,000 Ltrs storage capacity) at Dairy Farm Ward No.15, Port Blair out of Port Blair Smart City Project fund for proper water supply to the residents of dairy farm and its adjoining areas.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary the Member of Parliament mentioned that despite making all efforts by the A&N Administration to ensure providing proper water supply to the residents, many people in Dairy farm being a thick residential zone are facing acute shortage of water due to non availability of sufficient water storage and pumping at Dairy farm.

He added that water is one of the basic needs for human consumption and the residents are fully dependent on the water being supplied by the Port Blair Municipal Council.

Owing to increase of population, houses and commercial activities, the residents of Dairy farm and its surrounding areas i.e. Ranchi Basthi, Junglighat, School Line etc are facing acute shortage of water due to lack of water storage and pumping facilities.

Considering this issue the Member of Parliament requested the Chief Secretary to construct one over head water tank having storage capacity of 15,00,000 Lts at elevated location at Dairy farm, Ward No.15 out of Port Blair Smart City Project fund which would facilitate the PBMC for storage and subsequent supply of water to the residents of Dairy farm and its adjoining areas.
