Member of Parliament requests for compensation for villagers who suffered losses due to heavy rainfall in North Andaman region

Port Blair, Sept 24: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma was intimated by public of North and Middle Andaman that due to heavy rain in many parts of Diglipur region on 22nd September and 23rd September 2021, there were flash floods in atleast four villages of North Andaman.


Today the Member of Parliament has taken up this matter with the Chief Secretary and requested a detailed survey of losses and damages, suffered by the villagers and to release appropriate compensation for the farmers.


In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary today the Member of Parliament today mentioned that as per calls received from villagers of Diglipur region in many places the vegetable cultivation land got submerged in water causing loss of crops for many farmers. In some places due to the ingress of water inside houses, rice stored inside houses of villagers got damaged.


The Member of Parliament is also in constant touch with farmers and villagers of North and Middle Andaman region on this issue.
