Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Usha Silai School LRP Course Conducts in Port Blair

Port Blair, Apr 24: Usha International Limited (UIL) conducted a 2 days “Local Resource Persons” (LRP) course with 05 women Usha Silai School women entrepreneurs in Port Blair on 22nd and 23rd April 2024 at Unnati office Foreshore Road, Haddo.  05 women leaders from different villages in South Andaman was selected on the basis of their successful running of the Usha Silai School program over the years and the urge in them to take-up further leadership self-development modules. 

The curriculum of these 2 days covered:

  1. Effective mechanism of communication 
  2. Bringing up issues faced by women
  3. Conducting of effective awareness sessions 
  4. Engaging in effective problem solving 
  5. Increasing technical knowledge 
  6. Establish much needed local knowledge for various schemes
  7. Orientation on Gender equality and POSH. 

The resource persons for the 2 days program were:

  1. Mr.  C. Mohamed, President, Unnati,
  2. Mrs. Farida, Secretary cum Director, Hope Foundation,
  3. Mrs. Shaima Shamim, Vice President, Unnati, 
  4. Mr. Saikat Nasker, Regional Manager East, Usha International Limited. 

In the words of Mrs. Monica Bilung, Usha Silai Teacher “I wanted to innovate and grow and these training has provided me the confidence to handle conflict management and I was registered in GEM portal” 

Mr. Saikat Nasker, Regional Manager, Usha Social Services expressed his heartfelt thanks to its partner Unnati for implementing this 2 days workshop in Port Blair  and expressed his satisfaction that these 05  women are going back with better behavioral skills to play the role of community leaders and will further cascade these sessions amongst others. 

Usha International Limited is running more than 100 Usha Silai schools with its partner Unnati in different villages of A&N Islands. The engagement of these LRP would be in ensuring the sustainability of Usha Silai School program operations.
