MESSAGE

21st June has been recognised as the International Day of Yoga (IDY) by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in year 2014. Since then,the IDY has been observed across the globe with great enthusiasm and vehemence. The theme for 8thedition of IDY is ‘Yoga for Humanity’.  To mark the ‘AzadikaAmritMahotsav’, the Mass Yoga Practices are being organized at 75 Iconic locations of the Country including National Memorial Cellular Jail at Port Blair on 21st June, 2022.

          As very precisely said by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, “Yoga is a Symbol of Universal aspiration for Health and Wellbeing and it is a health assurance in zero budget”. Given the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, the benefits offered by Yoga have become even more important for physical and mental well-being.

          The Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) intends to create general awareness among the masses to attain peace, harmony and well-being through Yoga practices. Individuals facing Health issue are advised to consult a Physician/Yoga expert before taking up Yoga practice.

          Therefore, the islanders are appealed to participate in the practice of CYP drill at any Venue arranged by Administration across the islands on 21st June, 2022 from 5.30 AM as per one’s ability; and also to adopt Yoga practice in their daily routine.
