Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair celebrates the National Youth Day and Week

Port Blair, Jan 13: 12th January, the birthday of Swamy Vivekananda, is observed as NationalYouth Day in India.  National Youth Day is followed by a number ofactivities for a week i.e. 13th to 19th January.  During this period a hostof programmes and activities should be organized on each day of the weekwith various themes based on the ideals and teachings of Swami Vivekanandaso as to inspire youth for national development and instill in them thespirit of youth as embodied in the life of Swami Vivekananda.  During thesecelebrations, youth potential and commitment will be brought forth withforce. Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair celebrated the National Youth Day andWeek from 12th to 19th January, 2023 in the district with full enthusiasm.The themes of all days and week are 12th January   (National Youth Day),13th January  (Culture Day), 14th January (Participation Day), 15th January( Social Service Day) 17th January (Youth for Peace Day), 17th January(Youth for Peace Day) 18th January (Skill Development Day) 19th January(Awareness Day).

On 13th Jan yoga pranayama and meditation camp was organized in the auditoriumof Maharashtra Mandal. On the occasion, Mrs. Padmini Jog, Yoga Guru, aged 78years was the chief guest. She has been practicing yoga asana and pranayamafor the last 30 years after taking teacher training from Swamiji inHaridwar. She has been practicing and teaching pranayama taught by SwamiRamdevji Maharaj of Haridwar. She firmly believes that with regular anddedicated practice of Pranayama, people can stay physically and mentallyhealthy throughout life. Mrs. Padmini along with her husband late ColonelPratap Jog has organized 561 camps at various places where more than2, 00,000 people have participated.

Program was inaugurated by the chief guest, yoga guru, who lit alamp and also garlanded the portrait of Swamiji and performed all the fivemain pranayama and meditation postures explaining the needs of yoga,pranayama, and meditation. She also described yoga as the source of spiritualknowledge of Swami Vivekananda. She stressed on all the youth to stayconnected with yoga.  On this occasion, Commander Vaibhav Kaslikar, LT. K.Lathashree, Dr. Hemant Rao, Founder in Guruji Sumpurna Yoga and Naturopathy, Mr.Gorakh Nath Patil, President, Maharashtra Mandal, Mr. K. RajeshWellness Coach and Mr. Abhijeet Parmanik, Wellness Coach and Dr. SunitaPatil was also present. Earlier, Mr. Gopal Chandra Biswas, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair welcomedthe Chief Guest and all other guests and participants present and gavedetailed information about the National Youth Day and all the programs ofthe week and also presented a vote of thanks.
