25 member Andaman Contingent leaves for Lakshadweep for ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ programme

Port Blair, Oct 29: ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme envisages strengthening of existing emotional bonding between people of our country by promoting and showcasing the rich heritage and culture, tourism, educational specificities etc. of each state allowing people to understand and appreciate the diversity that is India, while fostering a sense of common identity. Lakshadweep is the partner UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands under UT-UT Engagement Matrix.

As part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the UTs of A&N Islands and Lakshadweep for effective implementation of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ programme, Administration is deputing a 25 member Contingent of the Directorate of Education comprising of teachers, NSS and Scout Students and a Football team from Hut Bay to Lakshadweep.

The Contingent has left for Lakshadweep today and will return to Port Blair on 6th November 2018. The group shall interact with their counterparts in Lakshadweep besides playing a friendly football match in Androth and Kavaratti Island and participating in cleanliness drive.
