AGM of Shipping Sub-Committee of NGGOA

Port Blair, Sept 25: The Annual General Body meeting of the Shipping Department Sub-Committee of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association was held recently at Port Blair. Speaking on the occasion Mr. P.Sathyapal, President of the Association expressed happiness over the conduct of General Body meeting at the time when the government employees all over the country are on struggle path to press for their demands. Mr. T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association appealed the employees to fight against large scale privatization and contractorisation in the Afloat Sector. He expressed serious concern over the withdrawal of a large number of Speed Boats from service due to lack of proper maintenance. The meeting was attended by Mr. R.Surendran Pillai and Mr. R.Rajendran, Asst. General Secretaries of the Association.
Earlier, Mr. M.Sakthivel, Vice President of the Sub-committee presented the working report and welcomed the gathering in the absence of Secretary. The meeting adopted various resolutions pertaining to the employees working in the department which include (i) Amendment in Recruitment Rules according to IV Rule(ii)Filling up of vacant posts (iii) Provide quarter facility in Kadamtala Jetty (iv) Grant of Mess Allowance (v) Timely payment of Overtime Allowance (vi) Reserve tickets for Afloat employees in Mainland and Inter-Island vessels. (vi) Timely settlement of various claims of employees (vii) Grant of timely promotion to Deck Rating in the post of Seacunny, etc. The meeting also elected 06 office bearers and 09 executive committee members. Mr. M.T.Ummer and Mr. M.Sakthivel were unanimously elected as Vice President and Secretary of the Sub-Committee respectively.
