Port Blair, July 26: Central Crime Station in its continuous efforts and crackdown against drug-peddlers & contraband in A&N Islands has arrested two drug peddlers. On 25/07/2019, a team comprising Inspr. Mahesh Kr. Yadav, ASI Vijay Shankar, Head constable V. Hentho, Constable H. K. Yadav, K. Rajendran, Thangaraj and HG(R) Seema Kujur conducted raid at Aberdeen Bazar near swimming pool and apprehended one known drug peddler Amar S/o Late V. C. Kannan (44) R/o Namunaghar and recovered 01 kg 20 grams ganja from his possession. Total 04 NDPS cases are registered against him and he is one of the kingpin drug peddlers of these Islands.
He has been involved in committing crimes from the year 2008 and was booked for cases under burglary, hit & run and NDPS cases since then. Apart from this on 23/07/2019 in another raid at Delanipur, arrested one person namely T. Venkatesh S/o Late Loknathan (21 yrs) R/o Sweeper Colony, Delanipur and recovered 105 grams Ganja from his possession. The ganja was seized on the spot and accused persons were arrested under the relevant sections of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985. The entire raids were guided by Dy.SP (CID) MrSyed Abdul Rashid under the overall supervision of Mr Manoj C, IPS, SP (CID).
The Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these Islands free from the anti-social activity and keeping a strict vigil over smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substance in these Islands. General Public has been requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substance, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, 9474233832 & 9531857830. The informer will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret.
