Coast Guard Conducts Medical Camp at Shoal Bay

Port Blair, Mar 11: Indian Coast Guard  in coordination with GB Pant Hospital and Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association conducted a medical and Welfare camp on 10 Mar 19 at shoal Bay commemorating  International Women’s Empowerment Day. A free health check up with more focus towards addressing Gynecological issues was conducted for women. The camp included participation of more than 150 women including children. Items such as Sanitary napkins, Hand towels, Dettol (soap & liquid) and general ointments such as moov & burn-ol were distributed among the ladies. Bags, writing registers, stationary items and floor Mats were also distributed among children of local Aganwadi school. On completion of event, refreshment was arranged for everyone.

President Tatrakshika (A&N), Mrs. Mohita Pathak appreciated the efforts of medical specialists from GB Pant hospital, Dr. Harishchandra Bandhu and Village Pradhan in extending their support for making this event a success.  With a motto of “Self Help”, Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association has always been actively involved in contributing to society with such small initiatives. Health camp for women not only benefitted the women & children, but also increased trust among locals for getting extended medical facilities at their door steps despite being a remote locality.
