Directorate of Social Welfare Initiative Enriches Lives of Elderly Citizens

Port Blair, Apr 02: The recent initiative by the Directorate of Social Welfare aimed at enriching the lives of the elderly has been a resounding success. Senior citizens embarked on a memorable outing to Jhinganallah Dam, Marriamma temple, Jirkatang, and Forest Nursery, Miletilak. This carefully organized excursion proved to be a delightful experience for all participants, showcasing the Directorate’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of the senior community.

One of the best parts of the outing was going to Jhinganallah Dam and Forest Nursery, Miletilak. It was amazing because everyone got to be surrounded by nature’s beauty. We could see colorful flowers, hear the birds singing, and feel the fresh air. It felt like we were part of the natural world, and it made the trip even more special for everyone.

Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), who spearheaded this initiative, emphasized the substantial benefits that outings like these provide to the mental and emotional well-being of senior citizens. Stressing the importance of acknowledging and integrating seniors into community activities, He reaffirmed the commitment to continuing efforts aimed at enhancing the quality of life for seniors in the community.
