N&M Andaman District Police Gears Up For the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections

Port Blair, Mar 20: North and Middle Andaman District Police is actively preparing for the upcoming Lok Sabha General Election 2024 with thorough planning and efficient implementation of security measures. A dedicated Election cell has been formed for preparation and planning for election and  to liaise with District Administration.

            The Superintendent of Police N&MA, Sub-Divisional Police Officers of Rangat and Diglipur, along with all Station House Officers of the district, are regularly conducting visits to all polling stations, especially, focusing on Critical, Isolated and Sensitive polling stations to ensure availability of basic amenities and inspecting the security aspects of every locality. Any deficiencies observed are promptly taken up with the appropriate authorities to resolve immediately. Besides, transportation and communication arrangements for all polling stations have been confirmed for necessary preparations.

To ensure the sufficient arrangement of security personnel, CAPF personnel have been deployed with all Police Stations of N&MA district. Flag March and Area Domination are being conducted along with CAPF personnel to make them familiar with the locality and understand the local culture as well. In addition, CAPF are deployed in patrolling and picketing duties.

            All police personnel have been briefed to maintain a strict vigil over mischief mongers, history sheeters, bootleggers and anti-social elements, as well as to educate the public to keep them away from individuals who spread rumours, particularly on social media. Additionally, intelligence agencies have been put on high alert to share any information that may impact the fairness of the election. Also, all Private licensed arms were deposited at armoury of respective Police Stations.

            As a result of these proactive measures, and strict adherence of Model Code of Conduct, a total of 110 bottles of IMFL & 12 Kgs of Handia have been seized by Police and 12 persons were booked under preventive action so far. 

            In addition, Flying Squads, Static Surveillance Teams and Naakas have been made functional in order to uphold law and order in the district. North and Middle Andaman District Police remains committed to ensure a free, fair, transparent electoral process, and urges cooperation of all stakeholders in maintaining peace and order during this critical time.
