Parakram Parv Celebrations Start Today

Port Blair, Sept 27: Parakram Parv celebrations at Andaman Nicobar Islands will start today at 9 AM with the inauguration of an exhibition at Netaji Stadium by Maj Gen Beji Mathews, Chief of Staff, Andaman Nicobar Command. The inaugural ceremony will mark the beginning of various events at different places in Port Blair. Apart from the mega exhibition, Andaman Nicobar Command is organizing other events like Naval Ship being open to visitors at Naval Wharf, display of aircraft at INS Utkrosh and free entry at Naval Museum Samudrika. The exhibition and display of aircraft at INS Utkrosh will be open for public from 9 AM to12 PM and from 2PM to 5 PM on 28th and 29th Sep. At Naval Wharf, INS Saryu will be open to visitors on all three days from 10 AM to 3 PM. Entry into the Naval Wharf will be permitted from the Haddo gate and entry at INS Utkrosh will be permitted from Old Guard Room gate near Corbyn Chowk as per the timings.
During the exhibition at Netaji Stadium, many special activities like operational demonstration and weapon and equipment display will be conducted. Major attraction at the Stadium will include demonstration of attack on a bunker by Army Special Ops unit and insertion of Army and Naval Special Ops teams by slithering from an Air Force helicopter. The display of helicopter operation will be conducted at 9:00 AM, 3:30 PM on 28 Sep and 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM on 29 Sep. This will be followed by playing of videos of Surgical Strike and display by Military Bands. All the islanders, including school children and veterans, are invited to participate in this festival of valour by visiting all the events from 28 Sep to 29 Sep 2018.
