Promoting Wellness: Hasgulla Club Initiative towards a Drug-Free Society under the Directorate of Social Welfare

Port Blair, Apr 01: Directorate of Social Welfare remains dedicated to promoting a healthy and drug-free society through its innovative initiative, the Awareness cum Fitness Programme, commonly referred to as the Hasgulla Club, as part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Drug-Free India Campaign).

the 32nd Awareness Cum Fitness Program kicked off with enthusiasm at Joggers Park on March 31, 2024, from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM, extending a warm invitation to locals for an invigorating morning routine. Guided by Shihan M.S Murgan, an expert in physical fitness and mental health, the session successfully engaged over 15 participants. Internationally renowned as a laughter and yoga ambassador, Shihan M.S Murgan, not only shared his expertise but also taught various ways to make participants laugh. He also highlighted that laughter is the best medicine for our lives, emphasizing the positive impact of humor on overall happiness.

A participant shared their experience, expressing appreciation for the Hasgulla Club’s positive influence in promoting a healthy society. They specifically noted that the laughter session infused them with positive energy, enhancing their overall sense of well-being.

During the event, Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), offered profound perspectives, underscoring the initiative’s pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and drug-free society. He particularly stressed the transformative influence of exercise and meditation in steering individuals clear of substance abuse, concurrently enhancing their physical and mental wellness.

The Directorate of Social Welfare extends an open invitation to all interested individuals to join the transformative “Hasgulla Club” program. This initiative provides a unique opportunity to participate in fitness and awareness activities, contributing to a healthier and drug-free lifestyle. The Drug Awareness cum Fitness program is scheduled every Saturday and Sunday at Joggers Park, from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM, and is open to the general public.
