Intensive Efforts by SA District Police to Combat Illegal Activities

Port Blair, Apr 01: In continuation of the intensive drive, the Police teams of South Andaman District Police are continuously making all possible efforts to curb the menace of illegal sale of illicit liquor, contraband drugs and violation of Model Code of Conduct in their concerned jurisdictions. 

During the period of 16th to 31st March, 2024 a total of 65 Excise cases were registered in different Police Stations of South Andaman District leading to the arrest of 65 persons. A total of 188.405 litres of IMFL, 228.98 Kgs of Handia & 24 Ltrs of illicit liquor were seized. Additionally, cash amounting to Rs. 251,050 was seized for violation of the MCC. Further, regular jungle searches are being conducted and 115 liters of lehan were recovered and destroyed. 

The South Andaman District Police is taking all possible steps to make this district free from bootlegging, drug peddling and other anti-social activities and keeping strict vigil over bootleggers, drug peddlers and violators of MCC. General Public is requested to pass on credible information on narcotics, illegal sale of liquor, violation of MCC, gambling or any other illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 100,112 and 03192-236641. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
