South Andaman Police Arrested One from Mainland for Committing Offence of POCSO Act

Port Blair, Jun 04: A team of Police Station Aberdeen has arrested one person at Ichapuram, Srikukulam, Andhra Pradesh for commission of offence of POCSO Act 2012.

On 07/05/2019, a written complaint was received at PS Aberdeen from a minor girl against one Mr. Yogesh, R/o Goalghar, Port Blair regarding sexual harassment and assault her on various occasions on the pretext of marriage. Upon this, a case under relevant section of POCSO Act was registered at PS Aberdeen. During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the accused person absconded himself to evade his arrest and proceeded to Andhra Pradesh.

Accordingly, a team comprising SI P. Jeevan, HC Sunil Singh Yadav, PC Suresh & PC Ashima Mallick, under the direction of Inspr. Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen and the overall supervision of Mr. Nishant Gupta, SDPO (S/A) were formed and sent to Andhra Pradesh for apprehending the accused. On 31/05/2019, after extensive efforts of the team, the accused person namely R. Yogesh S/o R. Rama Rao (19 yrs) R/o Goalghar was arrested from Ichapuram, Andhra Pradesh. The accused person was brought to Port Blair on 03/06/19 and after observing all codal formalities he was produced before the Court, from where he was remanded to judicial custody remand, in a release SP, South Andaman District said.
