‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Pakhwada by Indian Coast Guard

Port Blair, Sept 23: Indian Coast Guard is celebrating the “Swachhta Hi Sewa” Pakhwada between 15 September to 02 Oct throughout the Isles, spreading the GOI flagship programme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. Under this “Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign, Indian Coast Guard is conducting various special cleanship drives aiming to spread awareness and implementation across the Coast Guard establishments, Government schools and fishing community hamlets with a focus on role of women and children to take a lead role for community led swachhta initiatives within society. The possible areas towards “Swachhta Abhiyan” includes public beaches, cleaning of in and around areas of Coast Guard *establishment/residential places and awareness campaign at various Govt schools, public parks and beaches frequently visited by people. Also during the campaign, various cleanliness drives are being planned in association with Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association (CGWWA).
The Special Community Interaction programmes for fishing communities across the Isles including various remotely located Islands, wherein fishermen and their families will also be sensitised about the importance of cleanliness and sanitation during this swachhta campaign.
