The Sudhangshubala Foundation celebrates Netaji’s Birth anniversary at Atul Smriti Samity

Port Blair, Jan.23: The Sudhangshubala Foundation, a charitable Trust based in West Bengal, which has been serving the People of Andaman & Nicobar Islands since 2016, celebrated the 122nd birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra Bose with a daylong programme in hall of the Atul Smriti Samity here today. The Member of Parliament, Maldah South, West Bengal, Mr AH Khan Choudhury, Former Minister of State of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was the chief guest of the main function. The Founder President of the Foundation Mr Bhabesh Majumder, Mr. P Vanamali, former Adl Chief Secretary of Govt of West Bengal, now the Advisor of SBF, John M Lobo, INA person from the A&N Islands, Padmashri Naresh Chander Lall, Dr Buddhadev Banerjee, Convener of SBF and other
dignitaries were present on the occasion. They offered floral tributes to Netaji and spoke about the life and contribution of Netaji for the country. Mr Bhabesh Majumder reiterated his commitment to sponsoring the financially weak students who want to pursue MBBS and make it to any Govt Medical Collage. He also requested the schools and students of far flung areas to participate in the competition organized by the Foundation and win prizes like laptops, desktops and tabs.
Prizes were awarded during the programme to the students of various schools of these islands who participated in Essay and Quiz competitions organized by the Trust on Nov 11, 2018. The students of GSS, Bambooflat, Carmel Sr Sec School, Kendriya Vidyalaya NO1,Nirmala Sr Sec School, MES Ograbraj, Crescent Sr Sec School, Govt Model Sr Sec School, GSSS, Port Mout, Navy Children School, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Kamraj English Med School, Vitala Public School, Kendriya
Vidyalaya no 2 came out victorious in the Essay/Quiz competitions held on Nov 11,2018. Laptops, Desktops, Tabs alongwith Mementoes were awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders respectively form each classes of classes IX to XII. Beside these, total 28 students of various schools were awarded consolation prizes. During the program two MBBS students, sponsored by the Foundation, viz Heena Kaushar and Ishita Singh were also given laptops for their academic purpose. Crescent Public School, Navy Children School and Vitala Public school achieved 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively for the overall performance of their students and were awarded Rs 3, 2, and 1 lakhs respectively for developmental works of their schools. Mr P Vanamali, PadmaMr Naresh Ch Lall and John M Lobo also expressed their views on the occasion.An instant quiz competition was also organized for students which was conducted by Mr Dinesh Kumar Singh of Education Deptt who also conducted the whole program. At the outset the students of Raag the Music Academy under the direction of Mr Sujit Das set the tone of the program by presenting
an inspirational musical performance. Dr Buddhadev Banerjee, Convener of the Trust, in his address informed the gathering about the philanthropic activities of the Founder President of SBF, Mr Bhabesh Majumder, in West Benagl and A&N Islands. Total 46 students from Krishna Nagar, Nadia and 4 students from these islands are provided total financial assistance by the Foundation for their education. Earlier, in the morning, as part of the celebration, a voluntary blood donation camp was also organized in association with A&N AIDS control society in which 10 person donated blood.
The programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Mr Arbinda Das, Retd Head Master. Lunch was also provided to all the students, teachers and the parents present in the hall.
