Vijay Kumar Roy joins Echo of India as COO

Port Blair, Sept 02: Mr. Vijay Kumar Roy, former employee of Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism after opting for Voluntary Retirement from Government service joined ‘The Echo of India’, a private newspaper published from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as its Editor-in-Chief on Sunday. At a simple function held at the office premises of the publication, the Proprietor & Owner of The Echo of India Group of Publications, Mr. Asish Laha handed him the order of appointment. Mr. Vijay Roy has also been assigned charge as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to ensure smooth operation of all its daily publications in these islands. In his brief address, Mr. Roy expressed his gratitude to the Echo Group for reposing faith in him and sought cooperation and support of the staff for taking the newspapers towards greater heights.
Mr. Vijay Roy joined the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism and was initially posted in ‘The Daily Telegrams’ in the year 1996. After serving for more than 22 years in the government sector, Mr Roy opted for VRS to join ‘The Echo of India’. During his stint in government service spanning over two decades, he served at Raj Niwas for around 12 years and was entrusted the responsibility to liaison with local as also the national media. He was also assigned the duties as Officer-in-Charge (Public Grievances) at Raj Niwas. For his dedication and commitment towards duties, he even received the Letter of Appreciation from two former Lt. Governors of these islands.
