Workshop for teachers by C. P. R. Environmental Education Centre

Port Blair, Aug 28: C. P. R. Environmental Education Centre is a Centre of Excellence in Environmental Education of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India. Its chief mandate is to promote environmental awareness raising and dissemination of information on the issues of environmental concern to the people. CPREEC develops innovative programmes and builds capacity in the field of education and communication for sustainable development. It endorses attitudes, strategies and technologies that are environmentally sustainable.
CPREEC in collaboration with WIPRO – Earthian has taken up a Sustainability Education Programme in South India. The programme involves innovative project submissions on sustainability of water and biodiversity by groups of students guided by a teacher. The programme is creative in promoting environmental thinking among the school going children (Std. VII to XII) which is highly connected to the curriculum.

CPREEC, Port Blair organized a workshop for teachers in collaboration with Wipro Foundation-Earthian at the Hall of Deputy Education Officer, Diglipur, North Andaman on 03.08.2018. in this workshop, Diglipur zone teachers and Mayabunder zone teachers were participated. Mrs. Sangeeta Chand, Deputy Education Officer, Diglipur was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Shri. U. Thirunavukkarasu, Sr. Environmental Education Officer, CPREEC, Chennai elaborated the Earthian activities and activities framework. Shri. Shri. A. Gopal, Project Officer, CPREEC, Port Blair discussed on biodiversity and activities framework.

CPREEC, Port Blair organized a workshop for teachers in collaboration with Wipro Foundation-Earthian at the Hall of Education Officer, Car Nicobar on 21.08.2018. in this workshop, Nine school’s teachers and students were participated. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri. H. Nathaniel, Education Officer, Car Nicobar. On his inaugural address, he highlighted the sustainable development of Andaman and Nicobar islands. In the technical session, Shri. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, KVK Car Nicobar delivered lecture on water conservation through people participation. Shri. A. Gopal, Project Officer, CPREEC, Port Blair discussed on biodiversity & water sustainability framework of Earth.
