Port Blair, July 16: The South Andaman District Administration in order to impose strict compliance of the lockdown measures is carrying out surprise inspections in and around Port Blair as per the orders issued by the District Magistrate to contain the further spread of COVID-19.
On receipt of credible information, surprise raid was made today at Hotel AT Villa situated at Dollygunj where a marriage ceremony was being held in gross violation of the orders issued by the District Magistrate (SA) inviting penal action under section 188 of the IPC, 1860 and in relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005. Fine to the tune of Rs.50,000/- was imposed on the owner of the Hotel and the entire premises has been sealed.
“The District Magistrate (SA) hereby strictly warns the general public to refrain from such activities in violation of the orders. Further he has requested the general public to come forward in case of any inquiries or information regarding such activities and can pass on such information to the District Control Room on the following numbers 03192-240127/1077,” a release issued by DC South Andaman said here today.
