ABAVP demands extra care for Nicobari tribal community of A & N Islands

Port Blair, Sept 06: The Akhil Bharatiya Adiwasi Vikas Parishad of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has demanded for extra care for Tribal Community of Nicobar District.

 

Expressing serious concern over recent two deaths in Nicobar District, among which on was confirmed case of COVID19 while other was suspected case, the President of ABAVP, Mr. Rashid Yusoof has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration for extra care for the tribal community.

 

Mr. Rashid has also written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration in this regard and suggested various measures to stop spread of COVID19 in Nicobar District.

 

He demanded separation of Health Centre and Covid19 ward by keeping the COVID19 facility along with isolation wards separate from the general health centre in Car Nicobar, Terassa, Katchal, Kamorta, Chowra and other islands of Nicobar District.

 

“This will protect the regular patients who visit Hospital for non Covid-19 related issues. All the coviD-19 facility must have a doctor available 24 hours along with proper ventilator,” Mr. Rasheed demanded.

 

He also demanded proper testing and limiting the Containment areas.

 

“Proper Covid-19 tests must be conducted on all suspects and their family members as the tribal community has a habit of living in a large joint family system. There must be a mandatory coviD-19 test even on the dead, as this will lead us correct information on how did the person die,” the President of ABAVP demanded.

 

Till now a total of 3292 people have been tested coviD-19 positive in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, out of which 2904 people have recovered while 338 people are still active COVID19 patients. Altogether 50 deaths of COVID19 patients have been reported in Andaman and Nicobar Islands till today.
