Port Blair Oct 28: Central Crime Station in its continuous efforts and crackdown against illegal Narcotics in A&N Islands, has again conducted a successful raid in kadamtala and has arrested one more drug peddler. After receiving a credible information that one Upain Mazumder S/o Late Haro LallMazumder (37 yrs.) R/o Shantanu, Kadamtala, who is a carpenter by profession has a huge quantity of Ganja in his possession, Insp Mahesh Yadav, SHO, PS CCS conveyed this information to DySP (CID) Mr. Abhishek Gupta,who without wasting the time formed a team comprising of SI Madhab Halder,PC/1143 K. Rajendran and PC/1067 N. Thangaraj of PS CCS and directed the team to move to Kadamtala in early morning of 22nd Oct,2019. After reaching Kadamtala the raiding team reached the house of Upain Mazumder with the help of a local boy, where the team noticed that he is trying to hide something in his hen-coop very close to his house. After seeing the raiding party at the spot, he became uneasy and try to flee but immediately he was over powered by the raiding team. On frisking him and searching his hen-coop the team recovered one packet wrapped with brown color duct tape raising suspicion and was further found to be Ganja. The illicit ganja weighed about 2.380 Kgs and was seized on spot and accused was arrested under the relevant sections of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985. The entire raid was commanded by Mr. Abhishek Gupta,Dy.SP(CID), under the overall supervision of Mr.Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP(CID).The CID & CCS unit of Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these Islands free from anti-social activity and keeping strict vigil over smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substance in these Islands. General Public have been requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substance, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, 9474233832& 8900910419. The informer will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret.
