Civic Chief meets Minister of Road Transport and Highways, GOI and Discuss Various Issues Relates to Lone Civic Body

Port Blair, March 17: Mr. N.K.Udhaya Kumar, Chairperson Port Blair Municipal Council accompanied by Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President BJP A&N Islands, Mr. Vishal Jolly, Core Committee Member and Mr. D.C.Arunagiri, State Vice President met the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Govt. of India Mr.  Nitin Gadkari on 16th March 2020, New Delhi. The Chairperson, PBMC raised various issues pertaining to Port Blair Municipal Council, the lone Civic Body. Apart from other matters, The Chairperson, PBMC has also briefed about the progress of resurfacing/widening of roads under PBMC under CRF Scheme. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, GOI has sanctioned 23 packages of resurfacing of roads under CRF during 2018-19 for a length of 38.79kms, out of which 9.50kms of resurfacing of roads are completed. The balance works are in progress. The Chairperson PBMC briefed the financial difficulties facing by the contractors for non-payment of their bill due to non-availability of funds under CRF. He further requested the Minister to release required fund under CRF to achieve the completion target. The Chairperson also requested the Minister to accord sanctions to the estimates which will be submitted shortly in Phase-II under CRF at the earliest. The Minister after a patient hearing assured the delegation all the issues raised by them would be given utmost priority and resolved at the earliest.
