Port Blair, Jun 26: The District Administration upon the direction of Chief Secretary A&N Administration conducted an Arial survey recently. The survey was conducted by Mr. Hari Kalikkat, IAS, Additional District Magistrate, and Mr. DilkhushMeena, IAS, Sub–Divisional Magistrate accompanied by Tehsildar, Port Blair and Ferrargunj tehsils assisted by Survey and Settlement staff.
The objective of conducting the Arial Survey was to verify the physical status and technicalities of the sites permitted for extraction and dumping of earth. Various sites of Port Blair and Ferrargunj Tehsil where the earth cutting permissions were granted were inspected through the Arial Survey in which a few places it was observed that few violations were found while earth cutting by few permit holders which is in contradiction to the rules prescribed in the Mines and Minerals Rules.
All the permit holders who have been granted earth cutting permission are directed to strictly adhere to the terms and conditions mentioned in the Permit in form “A” issued by the Administration. Any violation of these rules mentioned in the permit will be viewed sternly and stringent action will be initiated against such violators.
The District Administration is committed to curbing the violations related to earth cutting permits and shall now henceforth only issue permit through online mode to achieve transparency and accountability in this matter.
The General public is requested to inform the district control room at 03192-238881/240127 and 1077 in case of any illegal earth cutting.
