Inauguration of ICONIC WEEK as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

Port Blair, Jun 06: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Iconic Week Celebrations’ on 06th June 2022 by the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Corporate Affairs at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

            As part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (AKAM), the “iconic week” is celebrated from 06th to 11th June 2022. Port Blair has also been identified among the 75 districts in the country to celebrate the launch of Iconic Week by the Prime Minister.

            Prime Minister, along with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also launched the national portal for credit-linked government schemes – Jan Samarth Portal. The e-portal is a one-stop digital portal linking government credit schemes that directly connect beneficiaries to lenders.

            The main purpose of the Jan Samarth portal is to encourage inclusive growth and development of various sectors by guiding and providing them with the right type of government benefits through simple and easy digital processes. The portal ensures end-to-end coverage of allthe linked schemes.

            The State level event of A&N Islands was organized at the auditorium of Tagore Govt College Education, Middle Point, Port Blair by Union Territory Level Bankers’ Committee, A&N Islands, State Bank of India.

            The program was presided over by Mrs. U Kavitha, Chairperson, PBMC, Port Blair. The program was also attended by Mr. Suman Bakshi,Regional Manager, State Bank of India, Senior official of all banksand beneficiaries of various schemes.

            During the event, Mr. Suman Bakshi, Regional Manager, SBI welcomed the gathering and explained the various welfare schemesimplemented through Banks by the Department of Financial Services. He also explained about the efforts taken by banks to implement the schemes.

            17 short video documentaries of beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna of various banks were displayed. The meeting was concluded by a vote of thanks by Mr. C Raj, Chief Manager, SBI.
