NYK Port Blair organizes Bicycle Rally on World Bicycle Day 2022

Port Blair, Jun 03: The Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair in coordination with the Directorate of Education organized UT level Cycle Rally on 03rd June 2022 from Cellular Jail to Carbin’s cove as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in which altogether 76 cyclists (46 male and 30 female) have participated in the rally.

            Mr. Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Assistant Commissioner – Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman was the chief guest while Dr. Munni Singhania, Director, Health Services, A&N Islands was the guest of honour.

            In his address, the chief guest highlighted the day and emphasized the daily use of the bicycle for physical fitness. On the other hand, the guest of honour highlighted the benefit of the use of the bicycle in our daily lives.

            Earlier Mr. Alphonce Toppo, Deputy Director (OSD), Kamorta welcomed the chief guest and the gathering and briefed them about the day. The cycle rally was flagged off by the chief guest along with the guest of honour.

            Participants carried a placard, tricolor flag, and tricolor balloons with their bicycles during the rally. The participants gathered at Carbin’s cove the culminated place of the rally and on the occasion Dr. Govind Singh Pawar, Rtd. Professor, JNRM College was the chief guest and Dr. Chand Singh Prohit, Scientist, Agriculture Deptt., Mr. Joy Pinto, Block Sports Officer, Deptt. of YA&S, Dr. Sunita Patil, Director, Vedant Education and Social Worker, Mrs. Minu Prasad, Social Worker, Shri Mustafa, Social Worker, Mr. K. Yogi, Former NYV and Secretary, Panighat Youth Club and Mr. Yogendra Rao, former NSV were also present to witness the valedictory function of the rally.

            The Chief guest and others also delivered a speech on the day and its importance. The chief guest and other guests also distributed participation certificates among participants. In the end Mr. Kundan Lal, Deputy Director (OSD), Port Blair proposed a vote of thanks. The rally ended with the National Anthem.
