Port Blair, Sept 23: A programme was organized on Making Arecanut Leaf Plate by Gram Panchayat Mithakhari in collaboration with Shalimar Paper Products, Vailathur, Malapuram, Kerala for unemployed youths, SHGs, Pvt. Small Scale Investors at Panchayat Bhawan Mithakhari on 23/09/2019 at 10:00 am. In which Mr. Ramakrishna, DGM (NABARD) and Mr. Ishaque, Assistant Director Industries was also present. This programme was beneficial on both the sides environmental use as well as generation of employment for all kind of SHGs and Small Scale Industries. The delegates gave details on utilization of Arecanut Leaf which at present is a waste product and could be utilize as a source of income by manufacturing various house hold disposable articles. The products created by Arecanut leaves could be a source of income and alternative for single use plastic which would help in protection and improvising the present condition of the environment due to single use of plastic. DGM and AD had given details on how department can be a helping hand for this eco-friendly way of employment generation.
Pradhan Mr. Mohd. Safiq thanked the A & N Admn. as well as DGM (NABARD) and Assistant Director, Industries for their effort in development of SHGs and unemployed youth of this islands. He was also thankful to the delegates for the technical efforts and taking time for the schedule for visiting our Islands.
