Port Blair, Jun 24: In a small function held at Community Hall, Delanipur, Mr. M P Abdul Rasheed, Director along with Members of Ration Rasheed Foundation felicitated the 06 athletes on 23rd June 2022, who participated and represented A&N Islands in the National Muay Thai Championship 2022 in Madhya Pradesh organized by Sports Muay Thai Association Madhya Pradesh from 16th June 2022 to 22nd June 2022.
Around 800 athletes from 25 states participated in this Tournament, the team of A&N Islands led by Mr. N. JagadekhaVerma, coach-cum-participant made the Islanders proud by achieving a tally of 06
medals under various weight categories.
A total of 03 Gold, 02 Silver and 01 Bronze medals under various weight categories were won by the Islanders.
V. Trilochan, Silver medal in sub-junior under 20 kg under 10 years; Karthick Raj, gold medal in 91 kg under 23 years; Rengarajan S, silver medal in 63.5 kg under senior elite; M. Deepak Krishnan secured a bronze medal in 71 kg under senior elite; N. JagadekhaVerma secured a gold medal in 91 kg under senior elite and Soma Sunderam secured a gold medal in Wai Kuru.
Mr. Saikat Biswas, General Secretary, appreciated the hard work put in by the athletes and encouraged them to bring more laurels to our Islands. Mr. Rasheed also congratulated the athletes and extended his helping hand to the athletes if required in any situation.
