“Road Safety is life Safety”

Road Safety awareness programme conducted at JNRM

Port Blair, May 04: To spread Road Safety awareness among the youths, a road safety awareness programme was conducted on 04.05.2022 at JNRM by A&N Traffic Police. Mr. Ankit Chauhan, SP (Traffic), Mr. Abhishek Gupta, Dy.SP (Traffic), Dr. Hemant Kr. Sharma (Principal, JNRM), faculties, and about 150 students participated in this programme. Mr. Sanjay Kumar Jain, IPS (Inspector General of Police, L&O) was the main speaker on Road Safety awareness.

While addressing the students, Mr. S.K.Jain expressed serious concern over the rising case of MV accidents and Drunken Driving in the city. He emphasized upon ill effects of Drunken Driving/MV accidents, its financial and psychological effects on the entire family and appealed everyone to follow traffic rules. Importance of various road safety measures such as wearing helmet as a matter of life safety, fastening seat belts, avoiding over speeding, avoiding using mobile phones while driving, avoiding careless overtaking, giving way to emergency vehicles etc. were also emphasized.

Mr. Sanjay Kumar Jain, IPS through his interactive audio-visual presentation, also highlighted the scientific reasons behind the various road safety measures. Mr. Ankit Chauhan, IPS (Superintendent of Police Traffic) and Dr.Hemant Kumar Sharma Principal, JNRM also highlighted the importance of road safety and educated the students about the ill effects & aftermath of road accidents.

Further, they were encouraged to report traffic violations by sending clear photograph/short videos of violation containing clear registration no. of vehicle with date, time and place of offence on the official Whatsapp No. 9531892228 or share through the twitter handle @AN Traffic Police or on the 24×7 Traffic Control Room Number 03192-243812 for prompt action against the violators.
