Port Blair, July 19: As a small step against COVID-19, the enthusiastic volunteers with generous support of Fisheries Department, A & N Administration have conducted a sanitization and awareness drive in the premises of Fish Landing Centre, Junglighat on Saturday, the 18th July 2020.
Fishermen were gathered in the hall of Fish Landing Centre. They were sanitized and given triple layer face masks. Mr. S.K Thalukdar, Assistant Director (Fisheries) explained the importance of sanitization and disinfection activities in fishermen community and fishing boats to prevent the spread of pandemic.
Awareness talks were given by volunteers about the importance of hand sanitation/ hand wash techniques, method of wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing to evade from COVID-19.
Multicolor standees were displayed which illustrated about hand washing, importance of wearing a mask. Similar activities will be conducted in future to create awareness among general public. The theme of the drive was the theme “Revive Yourself & Stay Safe”.
