Central Crime Station arrests two employees of METS and three receivers in Drug Peddling case

Port Blair, Jun 10: Acting on specific information received from a reliable source, two employees of Marine Engineering Trade Services (METS) were arrested by PS Central Crime Station with 0.460 Kgs Ganja on 08th June 2022.

            The ganja was clandestinely concealed inside a postal parcel sent from Bangalore. The arrested persons are T. Santosh Kumar, S/o Mr. T. Thatha Rao, BE (Electrical & Electronic), (32 yrs.), Deputy Manager, Marine Engineering Trade Services (METS), R/o Anarkali and P. Arul Deepak, S/o Mr. Pathinglass, Diploma (Marine Engineer), (26 yrs.), Purchasing Manager at Marine Engineering Trade Services, R/o Garacharma.

            A deep-rooted nexus of supply of contrabands using postal services was busted and further investigations into the case have led to the arrest of three receivers of consignment namely Ritesh Kumar Chowdhary at “Jam Boy”, S/o Mr. Pradeep Kumar Chowdhary, BBA, (22) yrs, R/o Panipat Road, C.H Shekar, S/o Sh. C.H Gurumurthy, 12th Pass (26) yrs, works at the private ticket counter at Water Sports Complex R/o Dignabad and AdarshKar, S/o Mr. Rajesh Kar, Diploma (Computer Science), (25) yrs, Self-employed, Gagan Restaurant R/o Aberdeen Bazar. During the investigation police team also seized Meth Amphetamine and Ganja from the receivers.

            A case under relevant sections of NDPS Act-1985 has been registered at PS CCS and an investigation is on to unearth the entire nexus of this drug transshipment using postal services/other means. The greed for earning extra money lures certain individuals to these unethical practices thus endangering gullible youths of these emerald islands. Investigations are on to track the money trail and other suppliers and receivers of various contrabands in these islands.
