CPI (M) demands filling up of Vacant Posts under A&N Admin

Port Blair, Jun 10: Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded Lt. Governor, A&N Islands for immediate filling up of vacant posts under the A&N Administration.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Mr. D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A&N State Organising Committee mentioned the inaction on the part of the A&N Administration in not filling up the vacant posts lying in various departments under the Administration.

He stated that about ten thousand posts are lying vacant. None of the departments has taken any effective steps to fill up these posts. CPI (M) told the Lt. Governor that no recruitment is carried out in any of the departments during the last 2-3 years. Intriguingly, only publicity is resorted to at various levels of the Administration about the filling up of these posts but at the ground level nothing is happening and the posts remain unfilled, he said

Mr. Ayyappan mentioned that nearly one lakh local youths who have registered their names with the local employment exchanges are waiting for a job and in such a situation keeping such a large number of posts in the Administration is insensitive and unjustified.

He further stated that in the absence of any job opportunities in the private sector in the islands, local youths here aspire for a government job. However, the authorities in the Administration turn a blind eye towards the plight of these unemployed local youths.

Mr. Ayyappan urged the Lt. Governor to look into this matter personally and take all possible steps to ensure that all the vacant posts in various departments under the Administration are filled up in a time-bound manner so that the unemployed local youths can get jobs in the government sector.
