Crack Down Continues On Drugs Peddler by South Andaman Police; Hugh Haul of Ganja and Codeine Based Syrups Seized

Port Blair, May 05: Continuing the crackdown on drug peddling, a team of Police Station Aberdeen has arrested two persons for possessing 528 bottles of codeine based syrups. Also, the special NDPS detection team of the district and team of PS Swaraj Dweep seized nearly 670 grams of illicit ganja and arrested three persons.

On 30.04.2019, on receipt of credible information, a raiding team under the guidance of SHO Aberdeen, Insp. Sanjay Kumar, comprising SI P. Jeevan, HC Sunil Singh Yadav, PC Suresh, PC Vinod Liniya and PC Neelkant Rao conducted raid near Marine Junction and recovered 528 No. of 100 ml bottles of codeine based cough syrup from the possession of Naseer Khan s/o Mr. Saiidullah Khan, 28 yrs, r/o Bambooflat. During interrogation, it has been revealed that the said bottles of banned cough syrups were provided by one Jay Prakash r/o Mathura, Ferrargunj. Both the accused persons were arrested and sent to judicial custody.

On the same day, the police team of PS Swaraj Dweep headed by SI Samuel, HC R.P Yadav, PCs Aslam, T. Abdul Ameen, Ganesh Prasad, Nisha Mandal and PC (Dr.) Vallapa Rao recovered 150 grams of illicit ganja from the possession of accused Ranjeet Kumar (30) yrs R/o Krishna Nagar, Opp. Kali Mandir, Swaraj Dweep No. 4 and arrested him.

On 02/05/19, the special NDPS detection team of South Andaman headed by SI Surjit Bhattacharjee, along with PC Jayanta Kumar, PC Nanak Singh and PC M. Raja Rao under the supervision of Inspector Sanjay Kumar, SHO Aberdeen conducted a raid near Minnie Bay and recovered 520 grams of illicit ganja and arrested two accused persons namely Neeraj Sharma and Dharmender Singh, both residents of Minnie Bay.

All these operations took place under the close supervision of SDPO/South Andaman, Mr. Nishant Gupta and SDPO (Swaraj Dweep) Mr. Prashant Chaudhari under the directions of Mr. Deepak Yadav, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The public is requested to share information with Police in full confidence so that such anti-social elements are brought to justice and may pass such information to 112,100, 03192-232100, 03192-232400 and 9434288673. The identity of the informant will be kept secret, SP, South Andaman District said.
