Port Blair, Oct 16: To mark the successful celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of “Father of our Nation-Mahatma Gandhi (26th Sep.- 2nd Oct. 2019), Swacch Bharat Abhiyan (11th Sep-2nd Oct.,2019) & Jal Shakti Abhiyan ( 9th Aug-3 Sept.2019), ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair befittingly organized the valedictory function on 2nd October, 2019 at its Garacharma campus, Port Blair. The valedictory program was marked by invocation song, guest lectures, skit programs and certificate distribution. The function was chaired by Dr. B. Gangaiah, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.
During Gandhi Jayanti celebration, various events like essay writing, elocution and quiz competitions were organized in which CIARI staff and students from different schools and colleges participated. In Swatch Bharat Abhiyan, public awareness programs and cleanliness drives were organized in and outside Institute campus. During Jal Shakti Abhiyan, KVK, Sippighat conducted 61 Jal Shakti Melas involving demonstrations of various water conservation measures which were attended by more than 1600 farmers. Dr. R.K. Gautam, Dr. A. Velumurugan and Dr. L.B. Singh conducted Gandhi Jayanti, Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan and Jal Shakti Abhiyan respectively as Nodal Officers.
