Member of Parliament demands proper arrangements to bring all teachers to Port Blair after summer vacation by providing special ships and buses

Port Blair, Apr 25: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration to make necessary arrangements to bring all teachers to Port Blair/place of residence after Summer Vacation by providing special ships for Little Andaman and Southern Group of Islands and by providing special buses for North and Middle Andaman region.\

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that the Summer Vacation is going to start from 2nd May 2022 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. During the COVID-19 pandemic the teachers’ community worked really hard in various parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and in some cases during summer vacations 2020 and 2021 a large number of teachers could not leave their respective station and worked with concerned District Administration in COVID-19 duty.

The Member of Parliament mentioned that a large number of teachers were placed in door to door survey, surveillance duty, control room duty etc during summer vacation.

He added that now when COVID-19 cases are under control, after two long years, this year, these hard working teachers of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are hoping to avail the Summer Vacation and visit Mainland India with family for tour, treatment, admission of their kids and other purposes.

He pointed out that a large number of teachers are serving people in various remote Islands of this Union Territory and hence he requested the Chief Secretary to make necessary arrangements to bring all teachers to Port Blair after 2nd May 2022 by providing special ships for Little Andaman and Southern Group of Islands and by providing special buses for North and Middle Andaman region.
