Fire incident at Island Bakery, Junglighat; Loss of property worth 02 lakh rupees

Port Blair, Apr 25: A fire broke out at Island Bakery, Junglighat at 11:11 PM yesterday. As per information, at the time of the fire incident the bakery was closed and nearby people saw thick smoke coming out from the bakery. Immediately the Fire control room was informed and fire tenders reached the spot swiftly. The fire department controlled the fire within 45 minutes. However, shortage of firemen was visible during the fire fighting. It has also been learnt that there was some issue of getting Drivers for Fire vehicles yesterday, again due to shortage of manpower.

                It was informed that all the Bakery items and oven were gutted completely. Due to timely intervention by the firefighters, the fire was controlled on time and didn’t spread to nearby shops. As per the source, properties worth 02 lakhs got damaged. It is assumed that the cause of the fire is a short circuit, however further investigations are on.
